Unicharm Corporation (CEO & President, Mr. Takahisa Takahara) announced that their subsidiary for pet care products, Peparlet Co., Ltd. (CEO, Mr. Shotaro Otoguro) will begin operating solar power generation system at their plant from April, 2024. This solar power generation system will generate approximately 1.3 million kWh and reduce CO₂emissions by approximately 480 tons annually.

Unicharm Group has introduced renewable electricity* at its plants, following Saitama, Mie, Kyushu, Itami, and Shikoku in Japan. As for plants overseas, it has been installed in Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, The United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and China. Through these efforts, we expect to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions（CO₂） from Unicharm Group plants by approximately 66,000 tons per year.

In October 2020, we announced our medium-to-long term ESG goals, “Kyo-sei Life Vision 2030,” and have set “addressing climate changed” as one of the key themes, aiming to switch all electricity used in our business operations to 100% renewable sources by 2030.

Unicharm believes that the activity of “Switching to Renewable Electricity” will contribute to the following goals of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
